How do you make a hot rod faster, By sticking a jet engine in the back of it
Joe Wilkins had a hot rod with a supercharged, alcohol-injected Hemi-engine, but it just was not fast enough for him so he decided to install a Jet engine into it.
This sports car is a mixture of three manufacturers, its engine is from Chrysler, the drivetrain is from Chevrolet and the body is Ford.
The hot rod is made from a 1939 Ford and Wilkins is planning on breaking the land speed record in this hot rod.
Joe Wilkins had this to say
“I’m more than certain the car will go over 300,” Wilkins said. “We’ve still got a ways to go before Bonneville, but not a long way. We’ll have to experiment in some wind tunnels and end up with a spoiler on the back to keep the front end on the ground.”
“I turned 61 last Sunday. I just don’t think I’m going to be able to handle it without the reflexes I had 20 or 30 years ago,” he said. “I know several people who would be more than interested.”
We will keep you posted if he achieves this record
