Mustang Cobra Jet launched with a burnout

This is the 2010 Mustang Cobra jet, don’t get too excited most of the 50 Cobra Jet muscle cars that will be built are intended for NHRA Stock and Super Stock racing.

This Mustang Cobra Jet is on display at the 2009 Sema show in Las Vegas.

This muscle car has a few visible differences like the unique hood, custom wheels, louvered windows and an optional snake adhesive.

Even though all the 50 cars have already been spoken for it is possible for Mustang owners to buy the Cobra Jet parts to add onto their own Mustang. All parts will be available through the Ford performance catalogue.

The engine to be dropped into this unique Mustang is a 5.4litre V8 which kicks out 475hp. Other added extras include race prepared automatic or manual transmission, drag-specific shocks and springs, manual steering and brakes and an 8.50-second certified roll cage, aeromotive return type fuel system with a fuel cell in the trunk.
The intercooler coolant tank has been changed from plastic to a fabricated aluminum with a higher capacity to better withstand pressurization. Because drag racing cars often end up spending extended times sitting in staging lanes, Ford has also added fans to the intercooler to help keep temperatures under control. All cars now also get a line lock from the factory to disable the rear brakes for burnouts.

The starting price was $77,000 and hitting $95,000 with all options included.
