Volkswagen recalls 20 Beetles and replaces them
This is a bit of a bizarre recall, apparently Volkswagen have been forced to recall about 20 new Beetles and replace them with identical vehicles.
The reason for this is because the cars did not comply with recent crash-test regulation changes.
Starting Sept. 1, all vehicles sold in the United States had to be crash tested at 35 mph. The 20 Volkswagen Beetles being recalled were built between Sept. 1 and Sept. 22 but were crash tested at only 30 mph.
According to Volkswagen spokeswoman Sheriece Matias, the 20 units must be taken off the road legally.
Customers will be given the cars that were crash tested at only 30 mph but the difference is that these cars were built before Sept.1 when a 30 mph test was legal. The recall covers a total of 27 units, 20 of which are out on the road, said Matias.
